The term walkabout comes from the Australian Aboriginal.
With no physical destination in mind, individuals go walking through the outback alone.
The idea is that a person can lay aside community obligations to go on a quest to find their inner self and how they fit in the world. Alone in the wilderness with only their thoughts and memories, they are able to survive by connecting with their spiritual heritage.
The experiences of their forefathers, recorded in ancestral traditions called songlines guide them in seeking food, water, and shelter in the hostile outback environment. Thus, they learn to allow the thoughts and feelings of past generations to counsel them in critical decisions as they look to the future.
Metaphorically, Papaw’s websites are thinkabouts.
They are published to help Christians learn to navigate through the wilderness of life with ancient thoughts about Jesus …
The idea is that we use these photo essays to spend time alone in the landscape of our thoughts about God and His eternity.
Our Christian heritage, along with an innate love for God will guide us in learning to find faith, hope, and charity in our everyday lives while confronting the superstitions and doubts or our darkest moments.
Take some time to click and pray your way through at least a few minutes of these online meditation aids and if you enjoy your experience…
